포트폴리오 글 설명 (Description)

첫번째 이미지와 두번째 이미지로 이어지는 이 연작은 프란츠 카프카의 『변신』 모티프를 빌어, 인간 소외와 존재론적 불안이 물리적 공간을 어떻게 왜곡하고 재구성하는지를 탐구한 펜화 작업이다.

첫 번째 작업인 변신은 왜곡된 앙글레와 분절된 방의 시점을 통해 내면의 혼란을 시각화한다. 문틈으로 들이치는 타인의 시선(손), 구석에 구겨진 채 방치된 이불과 허물 같은 형상들은 주체성을 상실해가는 인간의 파편들을 대변한다. 물리적 경계가 무너진 비선형적 구도는 방이라는 사적인 공간이 곧 거대한 감옥이자 심리적 고립의 총체임을 드러낸다.

연작인 두번째 이미지에서는 이 고립의 징후가 보다 명확한 '물질성'을 획득한다. 모호했던 허물은 침대 위에 완결된 형태의 거대한 갑충으로 박제되며, 정교한 해칭(Hatching) 선들을 통해 서늘한 촉각성을 부여받는다. 열린 문틈으로 비치는 실루엣과 램프의 불빛은 여전히 외부와의 단절을 암시하지만, 이제 주인공은 그 기괴한 변신을 완전히 수용하고 침묵 속에 관조한다.

작가는 보이지 않는 감정, 기억, 그리고 비가시적인 소외의 감각을 날카로운 펜선과 왜곡된 투시를 통해 '단단하고 무거운 물질'로 치환하며, 관객에게 묻는다. 우리는 과연 우리 자신의 방에서 온전히 주체로 존재하는가, 아니면 박제된 관찰자에 불과한가.

 

This series, shifting from 1st image to 2nd image, utilizes the motif of Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis to explore how human alienation and existential anxiety distort and reconstruct physical space.

The first piece, Transformation, visualizes internal turmoil through distorted angles and a fragmented perspective of a room. The intrusive gaze from the doorway (the hand), the crumpled blanket abandoned in the corner, and the skin-like forms represent the fragments of a human losing their subjectivity. The non-linear composition, where physical boundaries collapse, reveals that this private room is both a massive prison and the epitome of psychological isolation.

In the sequential piece, this symptom of isolation acquires a more definitive 'materiality.' The once ambiguous shell is now materialized into a massive, fully-formed insect on the bed, given a cold, tactile quality through meticulous hatching lines. While the silhouette and the lamp light through the open door still imply a severing from the outside world, the protagonist now completely succumbs to this bizarre transformation, contemplating in silence.

Through sharp pen lines and distorted perspectives, the artist dematerializes unseen emotions and memories, only to rematerialize them into "solid, heavy matter." The work ultimately confronts the viewer with a fundamental question: Do we truly exist as subjects within our own private spaces, or are we merely taxidermied observers?
